DFCS Specialist- Monique Prude

alt c

Monique Prude is a DFCS Family Support Specialist for ICCCS. She's also a business owner and author of a book called, “Its Peaceful Here: Building Resilience and Unlocking your Well-being.” She started my passion in human services as an undergrad and served as a child advocate, while volunteering at Coastal Harbor Treatment Center in Savannah, GA. My passion revolves around helping families, individuals, groups, and the community by renewing functionality for a better quality of life. She started practicing more therapy-based treatments in 2015 after serving in the U.S. Army. As a Veteran she's seen a lot of soldiers who experienced debilitating chronic pain and mental health challenges that struggled with substance abuse as a way of self-healing. My specialty is addictions and co-occurring disorders. In 2022, she attended Spelman College Health Fair to help with college students project and public speak on drug and alcohol addiction amongst African American teen women. She has served various roles with very diverse populations as an intake clinician, evaluation counselor, case worker, and residential advisor for a women’s program. Therapeutic methods she has experience with in include mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and cognitive behavioral therapy.  She found that the key component of the therapeutic relationship is trust which has a positive impact on treatment and effective communication.
