Clinician- Monique Nixon

alt c

My name is Monique Nixon, and I am a Supervised Clinical Therapist with Integrated Counseling Center of Georgia.  I have a master's degree in Counseling from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama, and I have over two decades of therapeutic experience working with children, traditional and non-traditional college students, individuals in crisis, and military personnel.  As a person-centered therapist, I follow the humanistic model by treating each person with empathy, grace, and unconditional positive regard. Most of my career has been spent helping individuals explore their strengths and identity to achieve independence while coping with life's challenges. Whether recovering from trauma, dealing with grief, breaking negative generational patterns and habits, or learning how to adjust through life, my goal is to provide a place where a person can be safe, seen, and heard in a non-judgmental space. Although I welcome all clients, my specific audience includes women of color, trauma survivors, college students, individuals coping with grief, and those impacted by suicide attempts and suicide losses.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

In my spare time, I love to read, write, and travel with my friends and family.

Why is access to mental health services important?

I believe access to mental health is important because it helps normalize mental health issues and reduces the stigma associated with mental health as this can help encourage people to seek help without judgment.
